Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado (BBBSC) is teaming up with Denver Broncos Cornerback, Chris Harris Jr., to launch a student success program for the program’s youth facing adversity. The program, which will be called the Underdog Success Program, will be run by Chris and his wife Leah in conjunction with BBBSC. BBBSC Littles will have the opportunity to win prizes, including a private lunch with Chris Harris, Jr. for completing a series of initiatives including weekly physical activity, school attendance, and pay it forwards. Students will also receive points for their report card that is required to be submitted with their program tracker.
Harris encourages students to never stop working and never give up. He knows firsthand what it is like to work hard to reach your goals. Growing up he had to work hard both on and off the field in order to reach his dream of playing in the NFL. “People are going to doubt you, tell you to quit your dreams. Whatever you strive to be in life, as long as you put 100 percent into it, you can conquer anything,” said Chris Harris, Jr.
The Underdog Success Program will be rolled out this month and will run through June 12th. This will allow three months for Littles to complete the initiatives. The event, with food provided by Beau Jo's, will conclude with a celebration event in July that all participants will be invited to attend with Chris Harris, Jr. For more information about the program, please speak with your BBBSC Program Specialist.
