Mentor2.0 Spotlight: Claire and Maria

Posted: July 6, 2017

Did you know that Sheridan High School will have 120 incoming freshman aspiring to be the first individuals in their families to attend college, and it's right in your back yard? Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado is looking for volunteer mentors just like you for the mentor2.0 program. The program’s goal is ensuring that every Sheridan student graduates from high school and perseveres in a meaningful and significant post-secondary program.

DISH employee Claire Grant was strategically matched with her mentee, Maria. Claire has the following to say about Mentor2.0, “I taught in a high school almost identical to Sheridan High School for four years. I always felt like my students needed non-teacher non-parent adults in their lives, and as soon as I heard about mentor2.0 I was on board (and I wish it would expand to my old school!). It means SO much to kids when non-related non-school professionals spend time on them.”
