Ty and Alex seemed to hit it off right away when they met eight months ago. Alex said, “We talk about everything: comics, girls, sports, school, movies, politics, people”. Ty’s mom recently reminisced about how quiet Ty was in the beginning of the match, but she said now, “they seem just like brothers, having fun and goofing around. I’m glad he has someone positive to go and do things with outside of the house.”
They always seem to be having fun adventures together whether it’s skateboarding or biking on the Cherry Creek path, playing frisbee golf, fishing and hiking with Alex’s dog, attending BBBSC events, or using free tickets they get from Big Brothers Big Sisters like at the recent Comic-Con event! It’s obvious when talking with them that they’ve already formed a strong bond in this short amount of time. Ty thinks Alex is easy to talk to and loves how much they have in common. "I hope he enjoys it as much as I do, it's a really fantastic way to spend my time on the weekends and I'm getting just as much out of it as he probably is," said Alex.
Ty is starting high school next year and is a bit nervous about it, but Alex has talked to him about his own experiences and is always there to support him through whatever he’s going through. Alex said Ty has mentioned an interest in going to college, so he’s going to help him hone in on his strengths and support him through that process.
