Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado is proud to have Seattle Fish Co. as a founding partner of mentor2.0. Seattle Fish Co. was established in Colorado in 1918, making 2018 is an extra special year of partnership as both companies celebrate Centennial Anniversaries, .
Seattle Fish Co. and BBBSC began partnering in 2015 upon the launch of the mentor2.0 program. Mentor2.0 matches students from Sheridan High School with college-educated mentors and provides them with the support and guidance they need to graduate high school and succeed in college and the workforce. Mentor and mentee matches get to know each other through an innovative combination of weekly online messages and monthly group meetings at the high school. With the help of Seattle Fish Co’s partnership, mentor2.0 has grown from serving our first school at Sheridan High School to growth at Atlas Prep in Colorado Springs. BBBSC is looking at a third school this fall.
Seattle Fish Co.’s partnership goes far beyond the generous financial donations they provide to support one-to-one mentor programming. Hamish Walker, Chief Operations Officer, serves on the State Board of Directors providing his leadership and expertise on the Food Donation Committee and Centennial Committee. Additionally, several Seattle Fish Co. employees have volunteered their time at mentor2.0 events. Seattle Fish Co. employees also hosted a school supply drive to ensure mentees at Sheridan High School had the academic supplies they needed to be successful. Most recently Seattle Fish Co. partnered with Supperbell to provide delicious, healthy and complimentary food at a mentor2.0 event- serving over 100 people.
