Before directing Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado Dave founded and led The Spot youth center in Denver, which nightly attracts high risk and often gang involved adolescents for involvement in Hip Hop culture focused activities such as free music recording studios, magazine creation, break dancing, spoken word, graffiti murals, and also high school GED instruction, job assistance and medical services. Prior to working with youth Dave was an executive within the telecommunications and investment banking industries, a professional public speaker, researcher and student in Veterinary Medicine and Marine Biology, and a football player with the Superbowl Champion Los Angeles Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. Danielle Summerville - Executive Director
I have been employed with Big Brothers Big Sisters- Pikes Peak since 2001. In that time I have had an opportunity to serve as a Program Specialist, Program Director, Manager of Corporate Partnerships and currently Executive Director. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, I have spent most of my young adulthood in Colorado Springs. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology from Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois. I enjoy the work that I do for BBBS-PP. Everyday brings as new adventure and sense of excitement.

Jan Jarrold

Jan Jarrold - Program Team Lead
I was a single parent of three children for fourteen years before graduating with a Bachelor in Social Work degree from the University of Southern Colorado in 1998. I worked for BBBS for two years after graduation before going on to get a Masters in Social Work in 2001 from Colorado State University. I then spent six years working in child protection before returning to my first love: BBBS, in January 2007. I have a strong passion for this agency and the opportunities it offers to children in our community. At BBBS we are in the business of building strong, healthy relationships, and what better way is there to prepare our children to lead the world!

Jose Hernandez

Jose Hernandez - Enrollment and Recruitment Specialist
I graduated with a degree in Political Science from the Univ. of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2000. I am currently working as the Enrollment and Recruitment Specialist at Big Brothers Big Sisters - Pikes Peak in downtown Colorado Springs. My primary duty is to recruit mentors and mentees. I do this by creating partnerships with other non-profit agencies in the community such as Dept. of Human Services, CASA and TESSA, etc. I also work with Ft. Carson families to find children of deployed parents in need of a mentor. Previous to Big Brothers Big Sisters I worked at Colorado Springs Utilities as a Staffing Specialist in HR and at INROADS, Inc. as a Professional Development Specialist and National Recruiter. At Colorado Springs Utilities I managed a program working with Harrison School District 2 personnel to expose high school seniors to careers in the utility industry. At INROADS, Inc., I developed minority college interns into professionals ready to take on Corporate America upon graduation. I have always been attracted to positions where I can help people better themselves. I don’t see that changing any time soon, probably ever.

Natalie Mathis

Natalie Mathis - Program Team Lead
I moved to Colorado in 2005 after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Texas-Austin. Prior to BBBS, I was employed with a non-profit child placement agency in Colorado Springs. There, I worked with children and families involved in the child welfare and foster care system. In my spare time, I try to get outside and enjoy what Colorado has to offer – whether through biking, hiking, or just lounging on an outdoor patio. A great bit of my leisure time is spent pursuing excellence in my favorite sport, roller derby! I have been employed with Big Brothers Big Sisters-Pikes Peak since September 2008 as a Program Specialist. I find my work with Big Brothers Big Sisters to be immensely rewarding. I love seeing the positive experiences that my matches share together, and watching their relationships develop.

Daniel Nifong - Program Specialist
I am a Military kid who was born in North Carolina, but has lived in 3 different continents and in 5 different states. My dad retired here in Colorado so I consider this my home. I went to college at Colorado State University where I graduated with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. During college I worked as an intern at the Fort Collins Boys and Girls Club and eventually was hired as a Program Director for a couple of years. After college I went to volunteer with an orphanage in Pretoria, South Africa, where I served kids who were left parentless due to the devastation of the AIDS virus. My wife and I recently have moved to Colorado Springs and I have been working with Big Brothers Big Sisters since May of 2011. I have worked with kids for over 8 years and have always enjoyed helping them succeed in life. I have had a chance to mentor a couple of kids while in college so I know the impact Big Brothers Big Sisters can make to the child as well as the volunteer. I enjoy relaxing outdoors, playing Frisbee golf, fishing, and having fun.
