Match of the Month: Nevaeh and Jessie

Ten months ago, Little Sister Nevaeh and Big Sister Jessie were matched in the Community Program, and one would never guess that they had just met! They connected quickly, their love of learning and zest for life were an instant catalyst for friendship. Nevaeh and Jessie could quickly be found at many a Team Big activity and had others thinking they had been matched for years, despite just meeting! Nevaeh’s bubbly, funny personality and Jessie’s warm, upbeat presence make them a joy to be around. Their outings together have included Christmas markets, our Girls’ Conference ropes course, STEM day, stand up paddleboarding, crafts, long walks, and more.

During the time when matches couldn’t see each other due to COVID, two thrived at staying connected virtually. From reading the Hunger Games books together to learning Korean on Duolingo, they maintained contact and kept their relationship alive. Nevaeh loves to talk to Jessie about her interests in Korean culture and Kpop. As soon as they had the green light to see each other in person again, they eagerly did so, attending our Lincoln Hills outdoor exploration day with a few other matches.

Nevaeh absolutely loves being matched with Jessie and says she loves everything about her. She describes Jessie as caring and kind and she hopes that their match can last until she is 18 so that they can try skydiving. Rapidly approaching their one-year anniversary, Jessie and Nevaeh are looking forward to trying new things and many more memories to come.
