Little Brother Brenden and Big Brother Nathan are a terrific team. Matched on Feb 20th, 2020, their plans for regular in-person Sports Buddies events were immediately thrown upside down when the pandemic struck a couple weeks later. Not to be deterred by the pandemic, they hopped fully into our virtual connectivity setup, getting to know each other over video calls- both in group format and one-on-one format. They participated with great enthusiasm in our virtual match competitions, such as Trick Shot, Costumes, Scavenger Hunt and Fitness Challenge. Nathan was wonderfully supportive of Brenden’s excitement for the activities as they shared many a fun video moment together.
When the Sports Buddies matches were permitted to resume masked in-person activities in the summer, Brenden and Nathan adapted with ease and picked right up where they had been virtually- as if they’d been friends for years. They currently do a blend of virtual and in-person activities, connecting a couple times a month, often going off-script from the planned activities but always having a blast. Brenden brings a great deal of energy, creativity and curiosity to their get-togethers and Nathan is up to the challenge and eager to support, teach and learn. They’re excited to embark on their second year of friendship and adventure together!
